Background
The Tasmanian Government has committed $10 million to support sustainable recreational off-road vehicle experiences within the Arthur-Pieman Conservation Area (APCA) and reserves across the West Coast.
The Arthur-Pieman Conservation Area and West Coast Off-Road Vehicle Project will include delivery of the following:
development of a West Coast Off-Road Vehicle Strategy to inform:
improved West Coast off-road vehicle access and experiences
track and campground improvements, and other improvements as recommended in the Strategy
maintenance and some re-grading of shack node roads and tracks managed by PWS within the APCA
increased protection of cultural heritage and natural values
enhanced education and interpretation of the values of the Western Tasmania Aboriginal Cultural Landscape, West Coast and APCA.
fostering of key partnerships with Aboriginal communities, 4WD clubs and users, tourism operators and local residents

Community Consultation and Contact Details
The public were invited to comment on the draft Strategy in the first half of 2024.
Following release of the final Strategy there will be ongoing stakeholder engagement through the implementation of the project.
Next Steps
Following a review of all submissions received, a Submissions Report will be completed to help finalise the West Coast Off Road Vehicle Strategy.
A notification will be sent out to members of the public who made a submission once the Strategy is finalised and is available to view online.
