About

This delightful walk near the town of Mole Creek, holds a surprise. After a short climb, the track winds through forest before suddenly reaching a set of cliffs 200m above the Mersey River. There are stunning views from the lookout, as the Mersey River rushes through a narrow, cliff-lined gorge.

tulampanga, the Aboriginal name for Alum Cliffs, remains a place of particular significance to Tasmanian Aboriginals because of the ochre found nearby. Along the walk there are sculptures and pieces of outdoor furniture, some created by local Aboriginal artists.

The Alum Cliffs are located within the Alum Cliffs State Reserve and form a part of the Gog Range.
