The Tasmanian and the Australian Governments are calling for people with experience and skills in a range of areas who are interested in becoming a member of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area (TWWHA) Consultative Committee.

The Minister for Parks and Heritage, Judy Jackson said the committee provides advice to the Ministerial Council and Standing Committee on matters relating to the conservation, presentation and management of the TWWHA.

"The committee was formed in 1985 as part of a joint management arrangement between the Australian and Tasmanian Governments," Ms Jackson said.

"Membership of the committee is broad based and represents the scientific community, Aboriginal community, recreational interests, local government, conservation interests, industry and tourism.

"Members are appointed for three years and the committee generally meets four times a year.

"The committee consists of a total of 15 members and a number of members' terms have expired.

"We are now seeking expressions of interest from people with interests or expertise in tourism, conservation, land/water science, cultural heritage, freshwater angling and bushwalking."
