Waterhouse Conservation Area Closed for Fire Fighting

24/01/2005

Parks and Wildlife Service incident controller, Tony Blanks, said that the Waterhouse area, including all camping areas accessed from the Homestead Road, will be closed to the public for the remainder of this week and the coming weekend to allow ongoing fire fighting operations.

"Unfortunately this does mean that camping areas at Waterhouse will not be available to the public, however this decision has been made in the interests of public safety," said Mr Blanks.

"Fire fighting operations including mopping up and patrolling will occur for the next several days and there will be fire fighting vehicles on the narrow roads of the area.

"While we regret these facilities will be unavailable we need to be sure that this fire remains contained and the area is safe for the public to return."
