New staff at Hastings for the peak season

Five new staff have joined the team at Hastings Cave as they gear up for the busy holiday period.

Hasting Cave business enterprise manager, Beth Russell said that the new staff are all information officers.

"As they're all locals, they will be starting from a position of good local knowledge," Ms Russell said.

"We'll build on that with a week's training that includes occupational health and safety, food handling and the 'swim teachers award' for supervision of the pool. "

The training program also includes familiarization of the caves and the cave habitat so they can confidently conduct cave tours and the walks in the area.

Hastings is one of southern Tasmania's most visited attractions.

"The fascinating cave environment is a big drawcard and combined with the thermal springs pool and surrounding walks, it's an attractive family outing during the holidays," Ms Russell said.

The new staff include Anne Skinner, Tony Wade, Dawn Humphries, Jennifer Willet. In addition, Lynette Wearne is rejoining the Hastings team.

Hastings Cave employs about 20 staff during the peak summer holiday period.
