Authority to visit Adamsfield and the Sawback Range Track

​​​​​​​​​​​Adamsfield is a remote destination within the Adamsfield Conservation Area and part of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area.​

Tracks in the area are suitable for bushwalking, mountain biking and 4 wheel driving, though some tracks will require vehicles to have good clearance.

All vehicles and drivers require a permit to obtain a key.  If there are multiple vehicles in your group, each driver is required to apply for authority below.    ​

​Quad bikes and side by side must have a recreational vehicle (RV) licence.​​ ​

Please note that the Sawback Range Track is closed over the wetter months.​

You are required to read and agree to the Adamsfield Conditions of Entry.​

Applying for an authority

  • The maximum number of vehicles permitted per day is 12 vehicles.
  • The application for each vehicle in a group must be received in advance. 
  • Applications will not be approved if made on the same day as key collection.​
  • Applications will be confirmed by email and may take a few days.​
