About

The first 3 km of this beautiful walk in South Bruny National Park are along the white sands of Cloudy Bay Beach.

Nesting shorebirds lay their eggs among the beach debris during spring and summer, so please stick to walking on the wet sand during this period. Follow the curve of the beach to the south end, before turning inland along Imlays Creek.

From here, you’ll follow an old 4WD track with a number of steep ascents and descents for a further 3km. The track is surrounded by colourful, bird-filled heathland and when you reach Cloudy Head you’ll be rewarded with stunning views along the south coast of Bruny Island and out to The Friars. On clear days you’ll be able to look west and north west to see kunanyi/Mount Wellington and the southern ranges.

Return by the same route.
