About

Located deep within the Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park, Lake Rhona's pink-tinged quartzite sands are well worth the trek for experienced and well-prepared walkers. Rasseleas Track journeys through wet and dry eucalypt forest, and long stretches of buttongrass moorland. Lake Rhona is well loved by bushwalkers for its tannin-stained waters, the imposing dolerite peaks of the Denison Range, and secluded hold of King Billy Pines.

Most walkers allow 2 – 3 days to complete the return journey to Lake Rhona.

Campsites are located on the flats behind the Lake, and walkers are encouraged to use them to minimise impact on the sensitive vegetation and beaches.

The walk starts and ends with a crossing of the Gordon River. After heavy rainfall, the Gordon River can become difficult or impossible to cross. Walkers should allow extra days to wait for the river to slow or consider rescheduling their trip.
