Begin this walk on part of the Mount Poimena Circuit. Continue to walk 1 km along Sun Flats Road until you reach the sign to Mount Michael. Roam through mature rainforest to ascend to the top of Mount Michael.
From the top of the mountain, you'll be standing 800m above sea level where you can soak up the stunning views through to the east coast. The descent scrambles over granite boulders to Mount Michael Mine. Walk along the old road and cross Sun Creek. Weave alongside the banks of the creek on the Mount Poimena Circuit back to the Poimena carpark.
