To undertake this heritage walk be sure to prepare yourself for a full day, one-way walk before reaching your destination at the township of Weldborough. Along the way you'll wind down the mountain and immerse yourself in mining history and various forests of the Blue Tier.
The track follows the old pioneer road, passing by the remains of numerous water races that once supplied the Moorina Power Station.
Half-way along it is worth taking the short (300 m) detour to see the remains of the Wyniford Weir. Built in 1910, this weir diverted the water into the race to turn the turbines at the old power station. Retrace back to the main track and continue on to the township of Weldborough.
