Summer Discovery Ranger Program

​​​​​​​​​​Learn more about our reserves and natural spaces this summer with our Discovery Ranger Program. The program blends education and enjoyment, connecting locals and visitors to the natural and cultural heritage of Tasmania.

Activities are tailored to the unique locations chosen for the program and are flexible to suit the weather, age of participants and size of the groups that attend.

​Bruny Island

Discovery Rangers Frankie and Richie will be on Bruny Island this Summer. 

You might find them roving on the Fluted Cape Track, getting their steps in at the Neck or brightening visitors days at The Lighthouse, keep your eyes peeled for the purple Parks and Wildlife flag to learn all about what makes this place so special.

Cradle Mountain

Discovery Rangers John and Tyler will be at Cradle Mountain National Park this Summer. 

You might find them roving around Dove Lake, waddling with the Wombats at Ronny Creek or exploring Enchanted Forrest, keep your eyes peeled for the purple Parks and Wildlife flag to learn all about what makes this place so special.

Maria Island

Discovery Ranger Lydia will be at Maria Island National Park this Summer. 

You might find her roving around the rockpools at the Painted Cliffs, waddling with the Wombats in Darlington or checking out the convict history, keep your eyes peeled for the purple Parks and Wildlife flag to learn all about what makes this place so special.

Maria Island Discovery Ranger Program

​Mount Field

Discovery Ranger Tom will be at Mount Field National Park this Summer. 

You might find him roving to Russell Falls, peaking at Platypus in the creek or weaving a food web at the Visitors Centre, keep your eyes peeled for the purple Parks and Wildlife flag to learn all about what makes this place so special.

Narawntapu

Discovery Ranger John will be at Narawntapu National Park this Summer. 

You might find him roving around the rockpools at Bakers Beach, waddling with the Wombats at Springlawn or engaging with Eagles at the Discovery Den, keep your eyes peeled for the purple Parks and Wildlife flag to learn all about what makes this place so special.

North East Tasmania reserves

Discovery Rangers Lydia and Reyne will be at the North-East Reserves this Summer. 

You might find them searching for Shorebirds at Swimcart Beach, roving the rockpools at the Bay of Fires or leaning how to Leave No Trace at Scamander, keep your eyes peeled for the purple Parks and Wildlife flag to learn all about what makes this place so special.

North East Tasmania Discovery Ranger program

Tasman Peninsula ​​

Discovery Rangers Keith and Tom will be at the Tasman National Park this Summer. 

You might find them leaning how to Leave No Trace at Lime Bay, roving around the rockpools at the Tessellated Pavements or discovering Dragons at Fortescue Bay, keep your eyes peeled for the purple Parks and Wildlife flag to learn all about what makes this place so special.

  • All activities are free and suitable for all ages! 

  • If activities are in a national park you will need a valid national park pass​.

  • Dress appropriately for Tasmania’s changing weather.

  • Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. 

  • Activities are subject to change at short notice.
