December 2023

PWS is progressing well through stage two of the $40 million, multi-day, hut-based Next Iconic Walk project.

Extensive consultation, planning and investigations have been undertaken by PWS to identify the best location and determine the feasibility of a new walk, with thirty-five different locations and fifty different walk options assessed in the first stage of the project.

The second stage of the project has involved further consultation with key stakeholders to determine the characteristics that will make the walk a success on the West Coast. The PWS has been working closely with a design team to undertake all the site investigations and complete the planning, design and approvals required for the walk, with the track route now confirmed and hut concept plans recently completed.
