Works to repair the St Columba Falls walking track are underway, following extensive damage during the severe weather event in 2024.
A new bridge, barrier fencing and visitor information booth will be built and the existing retaining walls reinforced to prevent further damage. Safety railings and fencing will be installed along exposed areas and repairs to a landslip prevention membrane will help stabilise the walking track.
The track will be closed for the duration of the work; however, visitors can still view these spectacular falls from the road. The car park will remain open.
Listed as one of the 60 Great Short Walks, completing these repairs will ensure a safe and enjoyable world class experience for all who visit these much-loved falls.
In the meantime, visitors are encouraged to go to the newly updated Goblin Forest Walk, which has been upgraded to ensure it is accessible for all living with a disability.
The track is expected to reopen in December.
