From 1 July 2023, Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service (PWS) will increase the fees for two iconic multi-day walks to ensure the experiences are maintained as world-class hiking destinations well into the future.
The Overland Track fee will increase for the first time since 2012 from $200 to $285 for adults. The Three Capes Track fee will change from $495 to $595 for adults, reflecting the first price increase since the award-winning experience opened in 2015.
The new fees were carefully considered to ensure they represented value for money while supporting ongoing investment into Tasmania’s signature tourism experiences.
Revenue from the fees will be re-invested into the existing tracks and associated infrastructure. This will help PWS to ensure the experiences are maintained at a high standard in a complex operating environment of increased maintenance costs in a remote and harsh landscape.
PWS continues to invest in sustainable visitor experiences, delivering significant upgrades to the Windermere and Kia Ora Huts on the Overland Track in 2022 and to the Waterfall Valley Hut in 2020.
The Overland Track booking season from October 2023 – May 2024 will open on Tuesday, 4 July 2023.
The nightly rates for Waldheim Cabins will also increase and be applied to new bookings from 1 July 2023.
