Visitors to the stunning East
Coast of Tasmania will once again be able to enjoy one of the region’s most
popular destinations, with the Friendly Beaches campground set to reopen on
Thursday 17 April, ahead of the Easter break.
The facilities at Friendly
Beaches have been restored after fire swept through the area in September 2023,
severely damaging the site infrastructure.
To ensure public safety, the
campground and day use area was closed while extensive stabilisation and
restoration works took place.
The restoration works include:
- Two new toilet blocks located on the previous toilet sites
- New directional and safety signs
- New replacement viewing platform with seat and easy access to the beach
- Restored lookout viewing area
- New fencing for the existing campsite with easy to identify numbers
- Restored beach access points at the northern end of the campground
- Rejuvenated road leading into the site, enabling easy access for
two-wheel vehicles and other camping vehicles
We thank the public and commercial operators for their patience while the work was completed. All visitors to the area are asked to respect the cultural and environmental values of the site and observe all signage while enjoying their visit.
