Expressions of Interest are now open for the future use and operation of the Low Head Historic Site. This rare opportunity to manage the site hasn’t been available for over a decade.
We are looking for proponents who will bring new ideas, investment and vision to one of Tasmania’s most distinctive and recognisable heritage locations.
The Low Head Historic Site offers:
a rich and immersive experience of Tasmania’s maritime past
unique visitor accommodation
an onsite café
a landscape that reflects Tasmania's important seafaring history
Applicants are expected to demonstrate their:
vision for the site’s future
practical skills and experience
financial capacity to successfully operate a complex tourism and heritage venture
understanding of the historical significance of Low Head
a commitment to working collaboratively with the dedicated volunteers of the Low Head Pilot Station Museum
Interested proponents are invited to submit an Expression of Interest which will be assessed by an evaluation panel who will recommend a preferred proponent. An appropriate lease will be negotiated reflecting the preferred proponent's vision for the site in concert with heritage, community and partnership requirements.
The closing date for applications is 26 June 2026.
More information about the Expression of Interest, including how to apply, is available on the Tasmanian Government Tenders website.
