​​​The Parks and Wildlife Service (PWS) has introduced a free registration system for popular multi-day walks to ensure safe physical distancing and COVID-19 safe practices are met.

Before heading to your favourite spot, please check the below list of walks and if your chosen destination is listed, you must register​.

WALKER REGISTRATION

Walls of Jerusalem National Park

The number of overnight walkers departing from the main Walls of Jerusalem car park is capped at 48 walkers per day and registrations are required. All huts in the Walls of Jerusalem and the Great Western Tiers remain closed, and all walkers must carry a good quality 3-4 season tent.

Frenchmans Cap (Vera and Tahune Hut sites), Pine Valley Hut site, New Pelion Hut via Arm River and Scott-Kilvert Memorial Hut

These huts are open with limited capacity to ensure compliance with COVID-19 requirements.

Walker numbers are capped for Frenchmans Cap (10 per day) and walkers here are required to move on to the next campsite each day.

Walker numbers are capped for Pine Valley (10 per day), New Pelion (8 per day) and Scott-Kilvert Memorial Hut at Lake Rodway (12 per day). 

All walkers must carry a good quality 3-4 season tent.

Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park – Overland Track

Walkers are required to walk from north to south (Cradle Mountain to Lake St Clair).

During the booking season (1 October and 31 May) all walkers are required to book online, in advance (including payment) at least 24hrs prior to departure.

Outside the booking season (1 June to 30 September) all walkers are required to register in advance (no fee applies) in compliance with COVID-19 requirements.

Numbers are capped at 24 walkers per day and the number of people allowed in each hut is limited. All walkers must carry a quality tent (3-4 season rating with inner and outer layer) and be prepared to camp.

Going camping?

Visitors are asked to follow physical distancing guidelines when camping. This is particularly important at sites that include shared facilities such as toilet blocks and barbecue areas.
