The Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service (PWS) has introduced a free registration system for popular campsites to ensure safe physical distancing and COVID-19 safe practices are met.
Before heading to your favourite spot, please check the below list of campsites and if your chosen destination is listed, you must reserve your place.
Walls of Jerusalem National Park
The number of hikers departing from the main Walls of Jerusalem car park is capped at 48 hikers per day and registrations are required. All huts in the Walls of Jerusalem and the Great Western Tiers remain closed, and all walkers must carry a good quality 3-4 season tent.
To book call the Parks and Wildlife Service on (03) 6165 4254 or email email@example.com to confirm availability and register your tent site.
Frenchmans Cap (Vera and Tahune Hut sites), Pine Valley Hut site, New Pelion Hut via Arm River and Scott Kilvert Memorial Hut
The huts are open with limited capacity to ensure compliance with COVID-19 requirements.
Walker numbers are capped for Frenchmans Cap (10 per day) and walkers here are required to move on to the next campsite each day.
Walker numbers are capped for Pine Valley (10 per day), New Pelion (8 per day) and Scott Kilvert Memorial Hut at Lake Roday (12 per day).
All walkers must carry a good quality 3-4 season tent.
Call the Parks and Wildlife Service on (03) 6165 4254 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to confirm availability and register your tent site.
Visitors are asked to follow physical distancing guidelines when camping. This is particularly important at sites that include shared facilities such as toilet blocks and barbecue areas.
