Changes to booking system at Hastings Caves

Find out more

With the Christmas holidays fast approaching, so is the demand for cave tours at the popular tourist destination of Hastings Caves.

To accommodate the increase in demand, we will no longer be taking phone bookings for cave tours from 18 December 2023.

Visitors who wish to tour the caves can purchase tickets directly at the Visitor Centre on the day on a first-in, first-served basis.

Extra guides will be on-site during peak times to assist in continuing to provide an informative and enjoyable tour experience.

Commercial and educational tour groups, as well as public groups of 12 or more, are still required to book ahead of time by phoning (03) 6298 3209.

The temporary phone booking system was implemented to manage visitor numbers during Covid when there was a reduced cave tour schedule in place.

Hastings Caves is a spacious dolomite cave system featuring a labyrinth of richly decorated chambers, cleverly lit to highlight ancient subterranean formations.

Newdegate Cave is the largest dolomite tourist cave in Australia. Its vast chambers began to form more than 40 million years ago.

Back on the surface, visitors can relax in the swimming pool which is fed by mineral-rich thermal springs and remains a comfortable 28 degrees year-round.
