World Wetlands Day (WWD) aims to raise global awareness about the importance of wetlands for the environment and the public and 2 February marks the anniversary of the signing of the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance (Ramsar Convention) in Ramsar, Iran in 1971.

Tamar Natural Resource Management is also on-site at the Centre on 2 February with a display educating the public on microplastics in the state's waterways and water life.
Activity for World Wetlands Day
The theme of WWD this year is Wetlands and Human Wellbeing which recognises the benefits wetlands and nature has on sustainable development and for the public's wellbeing.
