The visitor experience at Ben Lomond National Park is set to be enriched with construction of the new $2.7 million public shelter now complete and open to the public from 10 June 2023.

The new entry point into the Ben Lomond Village provides visitors with a heated enclosed space, public toilets and outdoor deck, and will be an important recreational asset in Northern Tasmania year-round.

Tasmanian designed and constructed, the new shelter offers all weather protection for visitors and locals alike. The previous shelter, along with neighbouring Creek Inn Hotel, was destroyed by fire in 2018.

The shelter blends seamlessly and sensitively into the landscape and takes in views of the ski fields and surrounding park.

PWS Northern Regional Manager, Donna Stanley, said the exciting new space will not only provide a safe and comfortable area for skiers and those enjoying the snow to warm up, but a facility for those enjoying short walks and taking in the stunning bird life and wildflowers of the park in the warmer months.
