Commercial Filming Licence

​​​​​If you are a commercial filmmaker or photographer and want to operate in Tasmanian national parks or on reserve land, you require a Licence from PWS to do so.
  • ​Commercial projects involve taking of photographs or filming for sale, hire, profit or some other material benefit in lieu of payment.

  • ​Projects can include production films, television network or streaming service productions, documentaries, educational films, government-sponsored filming, commercial advertising, commercial websites, promotional material, books and advertisements.

  • Drone use may be permitted. See the Drones webpage for more information.

  • Approval is for specific dates and locations.

  • Public Liability Insurance required (minimum $AUD 20 million), naming the Crown in Right of Tasmania as an Interest Party.

  • Fees Apply:
    • ​​$440.00 (GST inclusive) up to 8 people

    • $55.00 for every extra person

  • ​Applications must be submitted a minimum of 21 business days prior to proposed dates.
