Filming and Photography in National Parks and Reserves

Find out more

We recognise the important role of filming and photography in attracting visitors to Tasmania’s wild places, beaches, recreational spaces and heritage points of interest, as well as the economic contribution creative businesses, partners and the industry more broadly makes to Tasmania.

The Parks and Wildlife Service (PWS) encourages members of the public and visitors to film and photograph their personal experiences when visiting Tasmania’s National Parks and Reserves without needing formal approval.

PWS seeks to ensure that videographers and photographers present footage and images that:

  • Promote the natural, cultural and social values of National Parks and Reserves.

  • Promote “Leave No Trace” principles.

  • Promote use of established formed tracks and to remain on those tracks.

  • Promote activities that are compliant with sustainable visitation principles and restrictions associated with activities that may negatively impact the land.

  • Promote proper interaction with wildlife.
