Have your say on Tassie’s next iconic multi-day walk

The Parks and Wildlife Service is seeking your ideas on Tasmania’s next multi-day walking experience.

Public submissions will be accepted via email and must meet all criteria in order to be considered.

Information on the process, criteria and the entry form is available on the have your say page.

Submissions have been extended and will close on Friday 11 January 2019.

Assessment

All submissions will be considered by an assessment panel against the following criteria:

Visitors

  • Potential to be the attraction/reason visitors choose to visit Tasmania
  • Is value for money
  • The duration and difficulty is consistent with the visitor’s available time.

Environment

  • Weather is mainly conducive to a positive experience
  • Able to be developed sustainably – consider any tenure constraints and managing impacts and any reserve objectives
  • Impact on other visitors/other established walks.

Economic

  • Achievable within budget
  • Matches with the Tasmanian brand – it builds the Tasmanian brand
  • Meets target visitors and numbers
  • Has the potential for a positive impact on jobs, and visitor yield and dispersal to regional areas
  • Product with a sustainable market advantage and has enduring appeal.

Community

  • There is a level of community support
  • The Tasmanian Aboriginal people consider the project to be culturally sensitive and appropriate.

Operation

  • Financially viable to operate and maintain by the Parks and Wildlife Service.
