Our educational programs aim to:

  • Connect people to their parks and reserves, and the heritage values inherent within them.
  • Encourage visitors, school children and community groups to conserve Tasmania’s natural and cultural heritage.
  • Use parks and reserves as a platform to improve the community’s health and wellbeing.
  • Support disadvantaged sections of the Tasmanian community.

We provide Educational Group Exemptions from National Park entry fees for groups visiting for educational purposes.

Schools Visits and Community Events

Our highly experienced discovery rangers deliver:

Discovery Ranger Program

Each year more than 30,000 people enjoy a variety of free, fun and educational activities through this award-winning Program. Full details of the program will be posted online closer to the summer.

Maria Island Discovery Camps

Tasmanian students have the opportunity to discover the rich heritage and experience native wildlife at a new Parks and Wildlife Service School Discovery Camp on Maria Island.

Raptor Refuge Education Program

Inspiring students about birds of prey, see rehabilitated birds up close and learn ways to help protect them through this curriculum-linked partnership with the Raptor Refuge of Tasmania.

WildSC'OOL Program

Schools that demonstrate a commitment to the environment by undertaking environmental education programs are eligible for participation in our WildSC'OOL program.
