Peter Murrell Reserves

Introduction

Located just south of Hobart, the Peter Murrell Reserves conserve a diverse range of forest, buttongrass and heathland communities.

The Peter Murrell Reserves comprise the Peter Murrell State Reserve (133ha), the Peter Murrell Conservation Area (135ha) and a Public Reserve (9ha). Together, these are referred to as the Peter Murrell Reserves and are considered as one land management unit of 277ha.

The area is popular among locals from the adjoining suburbs of Kingston, Tinderbox and Blackmans Bay. The Reserves include specified zones for horse riding and there are designated tracks for walking, dog walking and cycling. The Huntingfield Pony Club lease 25ha of the Conservation Area, this includes both arena and trail riding areas. See our Activities Map for further details.
