Hastings Cave temporary closure for maintenance

31/07/2017

Hastings Cave will be closed for one week for essential maintenance.

Parks and Wildlife Service Southern Region manager Shane Breen said the entire site will be closed on 31 July and re-open on 9 August to enable a range of work to be undertaken.

"We have a large number of maintenance tasks to be completed during the closure, so for public safety we decided it would be most efficient to close the site completely and complete all tasks during the week of closure," Mr Breen said.

"We have deliberately scheduled these works to be done during our quietest visitation period of the year to minimise any possible disruption to visitors," Mr Breen said.

The works include electrical and mechanical works in the cave, electrical works in the pool reserve, emptying the thermal pool for cleaning and environmental works to the sewerage system.

"We're looking forward to re-opening the site on 9 August, with an improved cave experience and a sparkling thermal pool," Mr Breen said.
