The following volunteer positions seek expressions of interest from time to time:

Maatsuyker Island Volunteer Caretaker and Weather Observer

The Maatsuyker Island Volunteer Caretaker Program is designed to provide a year round presence in this remote location. Volunteers provide caretaking services for the Parks and Wildlife Service including maintenance of grounds and buildings, plant and equipment, monitoring of all power and water systems on the island, basic land management work, and at the same time carry out weather observations for the Bureau of Meteorology, for which they receive payment.

This program is fully subscribed until 2019.

Expressions of interest for our 2020 – 2022 program will be advertised in 2019

Bruny Island Quarantine Station Volunteer Caretakers

Bruny Island Quarantine Station volunteer caretakers provide a physical presence at the station, open the station to visitors on weekends, provide visitor information about the heritage self-guided walk and about the natural history of the area, and carry out minor maintenance. Their work assists the Parks and Wildlife Service and the Wildcare Inc Friends of Bruny Island.
